"The Love of Thérèse du Munt" - the Lilach ensemble

Naomi Bourla-Levi - Soprano | Adi Bercowski - Recorders | Adam Chapman - Viola da Gamba | Jonathan Berk - Harpsichord

A cycle of 10 sonnets by Lea Goldberg, set to music by Yehezkel Braun, telling the story of the life and unrequited love of Thérèse de Munt", a French noblewoman from the late 16th century. The cycle was composed and recorded in the early 1960s but has not been performed in its entirety since then in full orchestration. This performance will not only bring this significant Israeli work back into the spotlight but will also give it a "new-old" sound, aligning with the spirit of the era of the cycle's heroine and the composer's possible imagination.

Throughout the program, there will also be works by women who lived and worked in 16th-century France and have not yet been heard in Israel—featuring virtuosic songs and dances in a special project not to be missed.
