Susanne Scholz (Austria) - Violin and conductor

The Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra

 

Nymphs and Queens, Revered Figures, and Allegorical Lessons – Violinist Susanne Scholz (Austria) is coming to Israel to lead a program dedicated to women who have inspired the great composers. Scholz, one of Europe’s most sought-after performer-scholars, brings her research-driven yet vibrant approach to this program. Alongside works by Rameau, Telemann, and Purcell, she will perform a violin concerto by the violinist-composer Maddalena Lombardini-Sirmen, a pupil of Giuseppe Tartini, who funded her musical education at a Venetian orphanage. Sirmen went on to have a flourishing career as a soloist across Europe, during a time when mythological figures served as both inspiration and perhaps as metaphors for her success.
